Today I meet a patient with Polycystic Kidney Disease, who's creatinine is still in normal range. The size of his left kidney is 18cm and the right size of the kidney is 19cm. His doctor told him that his kidney function is good and there is nothing for him to worry. How do you think? Do you think he need not worry about nearly 20cm kidneys? Of course not. Polycystic Kidney Disease also can cause kidney damage and then even deteriorate into kidney failure. The kidney damage is caused by the increase of cysts. If the cysts grow bigger and bigger, they will suppress the kidney tissues and cause kidney damage.
