Ma Huang or more commonly recognized in the medical terminology as Ephedra or Ephedra Sinica or even Ephedracae, is precisely the cone bearing shrub of nearly 30 to 50 cm in height. This amazingly fabulous herb is originally the native of Chinese deserts but is now widely being grown in the Mediterranean regions, India, Persia as well as the western parts of South America. The Ma Huang crops are found to be freely growing in the sandy, rocky, or deserted lands and needs warmer climatic temperature latitudes with less than 20 cm of total rainfall within the entire year.
