As there is no specific treatment in western medicine, once there is continuous proteinuria, the disease often progresses fast until Renal Failure. Diabetic Nephropathy is chronic and complex. There are many factors that can affect the kidneys. Uncontrolled blood sugar level, genetic factor, over intake of protein, hypertension, over secretion of growth hormone, lipid metabolism disorders, qualitative platelet defects, and smoking are all that can cause kidney damage. The early pathological changes of Diabetic Nephropathy is the enlargement of the kidneys. The mesangium is the earliest to be affected.
